Aviation and farming will be the two big emitters by 2050
Greenhouse gas emissions in the UK will be cut to almost zero by 2050, under the terms of a new government plan to tackle climate change.
Scotland have already pledged this months ago and 5 years sooner…
However, by then we really are going to have to reduce our Air travel and only fly when absolutely necessary, no more weekend hen party trips and all that, plus Governments need to give us real choice on land transport systems so we don’t choose Air because it’s cheaper, massive public transport investment required…. Local Food Hubs and smaller local farms a must, a lot of food comes in by Air too…
Today, farming and aviation are relatively small emitters compared to other sectors. But if the net zero target is achieved, their hard-to-treat nature means they will be the big two remaining rumps of emissions in 2050. That is why negative emissions measures are needed, such as tree-planting.
