Nuclear power plants in Germany to close by 2022 1


Germany’s ruling coalition says it has agreed a date of 2022 for the shutdown of all of its nuclear power plants.

Environment Minister Norbert Rottgen made the announcement after a meeting of the ruling coalition that lasted into the early hours of this morning (Monday 30/05/2011).

    This is really quite a historic moment, I believe this is going to have an enormous effect on how we see generating electricity into the future, as the IPPC commented a few weeks ago, “enewable technologies could supply 80% of the world’s energy needs by mid-century”
